President John F. Kennedy declared May 15th Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week that it fell on Police Week. Tradition holds that law enforcement officers from around the world gather in Washington, D.C. on this day to honor their comrades who have sacrificed their lives for the safety and protection of others.
I sat down with Las Vegas Metro Police Department Sheriff Joe Lombardo to discuss Peace Officers Memorial Day, as well as how the job of police officers has evolved since the beginning of his career 30 years ago. Here is the interview in its entirety:
